I need to heal my immune system so I'm thinking about trying this diet. However, I researched it a few years ago and the book said that my AB husband was supposed to be able to tolerate dairy better than any of the other blood types. Well, he is terribly lactose-intolerant! That made me a bit skeptical of the principles of the diet. I, OTOH, am type O so dairy should be forbidden, but I don't seem to have any issues with it. I went to an acupuncturist last year who waved a thingy over me while I held some vials and she said she felt that I could tolerate dairy all right, but grains and sugar are bad for me.
Is the diet just a general guideline, not hard and fast rules for everyone?

The whole point of the BDT is that we are each genetically unique. These genetic differences can be grouped into blood type, but even within each blood type there are variations. I don't know about your husband's situation, but type B is the blood type that can eat the most dairy, not AB. I recommend trying the diet fairly strictly for about a month, and see what happens! It's not for everyone. But you never know until you know, y'know?
